L’Orientale

Crozes-Hermitage is geographically the most oriental appellation, the closest to the Orient. This 100% Syrah reveals sweet and subtle peppery notes supported by red fruits and a lot of freshness. The tannins are present but well integrated.

Les cartes en main

Nature

Situated rive gauche, face au couchant, the vineyards surround Tain l’Hermitage in alternating outcrops, terraces and granite hillsides. Its geographical position places it halfway between the northern and southern vineyards which explains the exceptional balance of its wines.

The hand of man

Exclusively Syrah. The 40 hL/ha yields are a little more generous than in the south. Ageing is primarily in concrete vats although a small proportion of barrels and tuns adds further complexity.

Character and potential

Organoleptic profile: its deep hue and purply blue glimmers is an indication of the aromatic profile of small red fruits, spice and licorice. Neighbor of the iconic Hermitage, its identity is one of depth and elegance.

Notre ambition

Vision

Edouard Guérin: ‘Our Syrahs must disclose a subtle bouquet of violet and licorice and a rich and indulgent palate.’

Profile

The perfect balance between fruit and tannins for a fresh yet indulgent wine.

Tasting notes

‘The palate exudes fresh red fruits and graphite. A concentrated wine with a velvety smooth tannic backbone and beautifully soft fruit.’
